Death Investigation in Trenton, KY

Date of News Release: 01/14/2005

Trenton, KY (Todd County) - On January 14, 2005 at approximately 1207 hours, the Kentucky State Police located a body of a male subject in the West Fork Creek approximately 3 miles west of Trenton. Emergency personnel had been searching for a missing person in the area late last night and early this morning. At the present time, it is not known if the subject found in the creek is the missing person that emergency workers are searching for. Investigators are currently trying to identify the body. The Todd County Coroner, Jimmy Shemwell, pronounced the subject deceased at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow in Louisville.

Once investigators have positively identified the body and the next of kin has been notified, the name will be released.

Several KSP units from Post 2, the KSP Aircraft Section, the Todd County Sheriff's Office, Todd County Rescue, Todd County EMS, the Area 2 Dive Team and the Todd County Coroner's Office assisted at the scene.

The investigation is continuing by Detective Tim Bailey.
