Labor Day News Release

Date of News Release: 09/01/2005

(HICKORY, KY.) With the last summer holiday approaching, Kentucky State Police Post One urges motorists not to drink and drive and to wear their safety belts while driving during this Labor Day period. In the 11 Post One counties this year, there have been 39 fatal collisions. Of those 39 fatal crashes, 10 were alcohol related and 19 involved drivers or passengers not using safety restraints. During the holiday period troopers will be utilizing road checks and speed enforcement details near high collision areas in an attempt to reduce injury and fatal collisions. There will be zero tolerance for drunk drivers and unrestrained occupants. Kentucky State Police Post One urges motorists to drive with their headlights on to increase visibility and to report suspected drunk drivers by calling 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state).
