Four KSP Officers Promoted, Assigned to Mayfield

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Aug. 23, 2005) - Four Kentucky State Police officers recently were promoted and assigned or remain assigned to the Mayfield Post.

Lt. Governor and  Secretary of the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet Steve Pence is on the left and KSP Commissioner Mark L. Miller is on the right of the Lt. BanksHenry Banks was promoted to lieutenant and transfers from the Pikeville Post to the Mayfield Post. The 14-year KSP veteran also has served at the Ashland Post during his career. He graduated from Jenkins Independent High School in 1987 and from Pikeville College in 2001. A Letcher County native, Banks is married and has three children who reside in Pike County.

GabbardJanet Gabbard was promoted to sergeant and remains assigned to the Mayfield Post. She has been with the KSP for six years and is a native of Eddyville. Gabbard, who is married and resides in Kuttawa, graduated from Lyon County High School in 1993 and is a 1997 graduate of Murray State University.

MinorKevin Minor was promoted to sergeant and transferred from the Ashland Post to the Mayfield Post. Minor, a 10-year veteran, also has worked at the Richmond Post. A native and resident of London, Minor, who is married, graduated from Laurel County High School in 1989 and from Berea College in 1993.

DuffKenneth Duff was promoted to sergeant and transferred from the Hazard Post to the Mayfield Post. He began his career with the KSP in 1991. He graduated from Hazard's M.C. Napier High School in 1980 and is a 1984 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University. He has a residence in Jackson.

Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet Steve Pence complimented the promoted officers for their efforts. "These officers...have dedicated themselves to advancing the mission of the Kentucky State Police," said Pence. "On behalf of the Commonwealth, I want to commend the promotional recipients...for their commitment to public service and safety."

KSP Commissioner Mark L. Miller cited the diligence that troopers must possess to be promoted. "These officers have dedicated countless hours of training, studying, testing, interviewing and otherwise maintaining the highest standards to take their place as leaders in the Kentucky State Police," said Miller.
