A Hickman Man Charged in Arson Case in Fulton County, KY

(HICKMAN, KY.) 0n 7-28-05, the Kentucky State Police presented evidence to the Fulton County Grand Jury, regarding an arson fire that occurred on January 31st, 2005 that destroyed a dwelling, owned by Mr. Ben Terrett, of Hickman. As a result of the nearly six month investigation by State Police, the Grand Jury returned indictments against Billy Joe Newcomb (48) of Hickman, for the following offenses, related to this fire: Arson in the 2nd Degree (Class B felony), Burglary in the 2nd Degree (Class C felony), and Wanton Endangerment in the 1st Degree (Class D felony). Newcomb was arrested on this date, by Arson Investigator Frank Gresham, and charged with these offenses. He was lodged in the Fulton County Detention Center, where he remains, at this time, with a $20,000 cash bond. The Hickman Fire Department, Hickman Police Department, Fulton County Sheriff's Department, and the State Fire Marshal's Office assisted the State Police, with this investigation. The investigation is continuing by Detective Gresham.
