Date of News Release: 06/08/2005

(DEXTER, KY.) Investigators with the Kentucky State Police have charged a Calloway County man in the rape and kidnapping of a Calloway County woman.

On June 6, 2005 Paducah Police responded to a Paducah residence after receiving a sexual assault complaint from the victim's father. Kentucky State Police Detective Sam Steger was called after Paducah Police advised the assault occurred in Dexter. On June 5, 2005 the victim advised investigators her boyfriend stopped her on Clark's River Road in Paducah and pulled a knife, forcing her to drive back to Dexter. Once back at the residence, the accused cut the victim's clothes off and sexually assaulted her. She was held at the residence Sunday and Monday. The victim says her attacker then took her to a Paducah restaurant, where she was able to escape.

The accused, Lynn A. Day, 24 of Dexter, was located at his residence. Detective Steger, with the assistance of the Graves County Sheriff's Department, took Day into custody without incident. Day faces charges of Rape 1st Degree and Kidnapping. He was also served with outstanding warrants in Marshall, Graves and McCracken Counties. He was lodged in the Calloway County Jail.

The investigation is continuing by Detective Steger.
