Date of News Release: 10/10/2005

(Henderson, KY) - Troopers Carver and McArthur responded to a 911 call and determined that a Domestic Assault had taken place. The Troopers attempted to effect an arrest on Jerry Bratcher outside the home and were met with resistance. The Troopers used pepper spray in an attempt to gain compliance from Bratcher but the spray had no effect. The Troopers then utilized their batons striking Bratcher multiple times in the lower body extremities. The baton strikes also had little effect on Bratcher who is approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs approximately 345 pounds. Bratcher was able to re-enter the home where the Troopers were able to force him to the floor. After a physical struggle with Bratcher, which lasted several minutes the two Troopers were able to gain control and effect the physical arrest.

The Union County ambulance Service treated Bratcher at the scene for injuries received during the incident. Trooper Carver received very minior injuries to his hands and Trooper McArthur did not receive any injuries. Bratcher was then transported to the Union County Jail where he was lodged for the Assault charges as well as Resisting Arrest.
