Felony Arrest in Henderson, KY

(Henderson, KY.) - Kentucky State Police conducted a traffic safety checkpoint on U.S. 60 East, Henderson. James R. Smiley turned westbound onto U.S. 60 East from Old U.S. 60 and observed Troopers at the checkpoint. Mr. Smiley turned around to avoid the checkpoint and fled eastbound on Old U.S. 60. The pursuit continued down Old U.S. 60 at a high rate of speed and finally ended in the 8300 block.

Mr. Smiley was determined to be under the influence and arrested for Fleeing or Evading Police - 1st Degree, D.U.I. - 1st Offense, Poss. Of Open Alcoholic Beverage Container in Motor Vehicle, Reckless Driving. Fleeing or Evading Police - 1st Degree is a Class D Felony. Mr. Smiley was lodged in the Henderson County Jail
