KSP Investigates Accidental Drowning in McClean County, KY

(Henderson, KY) - On 4-30-05 Wavie Bartley, 57 and his son, Samuel Bartley, 21 were reportedly fishing on a private lake on KY 593 in Mclean County. When they failed to return home, family members notified Mclean County Dispatch. Mclean County Dispatch then notified Mcleacn County rescue services at 9:38 pm after the father's shoes, hat and billfold were found on the bank of the lake. The boat was found overturned in the lake. Daviess County Dive and Rescue Team was called to search the lake for the Bartley's. The body of Samuel Bartley was found in the lake by the dive team on 5-1-05 at 2:46 am, and the body of Wavie Bartley was found at 4:01 am. The Mclean County coroner has ruled the deaths as accidental.
