Unlawful Imprisonment Investigation in Lawrence County, KY

The Kentucky State Police in Ashland are investigating an Assault which occurred in Lawrence County approximately 10 miles south of Louisa, KY.

The Call was the result of unlawful imprisonment. Victim, Darlene Maynard 49yoa of Louisa, KY advised that she had been unlawfully imprisoned and assaulted by her husband, Lannie G. Maynard 55yoa also of Louisa, KY. Both subjects had been traveling south on US 23 in their vehicle when a verbal argument began. Mr. Maynard stopped at the Burnaugh BP Gas station located in Boyd County and held Mrs. Maynard there for over (1) hour by threatening physical injury. After which time they drove to their home located on Flat Bottom Drive Louisa, KY. Once at the home, Mr. Maynard assaulted his wife. Mrs. Maynard managed to flee the residence and go to a family member's home. She then notified 911. KSP Units obtained warrants for Mr. Maynard and responded to the residence. Upon arriving, they discovered that Mr. Maynard had barricaded himself inside the home, refusing to come outside. Units began negotiations, which lasted 13 1/2 hours. During that time, Mr. Maynard fired several shots from the residence injuring no one. The Kentucky State Police Special Response Team was activated and they did respond to the scene. Mr. Maynard finally surrendered without incident. He was initially transported by EMS to Three Rivers Hospital located in Louisa, KY for previous health problems. After being treated and released, he was lodged in the Boyd County Detention Facility. Mrs. Maynard required no medical assistance. The Incident is still under investigation by Tpr. Michael Murreill.
