Shooting/Stabbing Incident in Greenup County, KY

(Ashland, KY) - The Kentucky State Police in Ashland are investigating a shooting / stabbing incident which occurred yesterday (06-26-2005) in Greenup County KY.
The Kentucky State Police were contacted by the Greenup County 911 Center reference a shooting / stabbing incident on Wingo Creek in Northern Greenup County near the Fire Brick Area.The initial call described a domestic involving (2) two brothers where one subject had been shot and another stabbed.
Upon units arrival it was discovered that Jerry Taynor (49 yoa of Columbus OH) had been stabbed by Alaa Jamil Rajaib Al-Khalidy (35 yoa Iraqi Refugee). The two had been in a verbal altercation over a female. David Surber (42 yoa of Columbus OH), a half brother to Taynor, retrieved a shotgun and shot Alaa Jamil Rajaib Al-Khalidy after the stabbing.
Jerry Taynor was transported to Scioto Co. Ohio Medical Center by EMS for treatment of multiple injuries. He is listed in stable condition at this time and was admitted to the Hospital.
Al-Khalidy was transported to Our Lady of Bellfonte Hospital by EMS for treatment of gunshot injuries. He was treated and released. Al-Khalidy was arrested and charged with Assault 1st resulting from the stabbing of Jerry Taynor.
David Surber was arrested and charged with Assault 1st resulting from the shooting of Al-Khalidy.
Both men were lodged in the Greenup County Detention Center. The U.S Department of State - Consular Notification Unit was notified due to Al-Khalidy being an Iraqi Refugee.
