(Ashland, KY) - On May 1, 2005 the Boyd County EMS responded to a call for medical assistance at a residence located on Fairhill Drive in Ashland, KY. The medical assistance requested was for a two-year-old child.

Upon arrival the paramedics notified the Boyd County Sheriffs Department due to the nature of the child's injuries. The Sheriffs Department contacted the Kentucky State Police Post in Ashland and requested assistance. Detective Rob Garnes responded and was assigned the investigation. The child had been physically assaulted along with bite and burn marks. The EMS Service transported the child to Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington WV and is still under critical condition.
