Pursuit on US 23, Two Arrested

Kentucky State Police Tpr. Jamie Stephens arrested two males after a high speed pursuit yesterday on US 23 in Greenup County, KY. The pursuit began after a Gas drive off from a local station. Roger Russell ( Greenup City Police Chief) and Phillip Piercy (Wurtland City Police Chief) were in pursuit of a 1994 Saturn when Tpr. Stephens observed them traveling north on US 23.

Tpr. Stephens became the primary unit after the pursuit left the city limits. The pursuit continued north until the vehicle turned onto the Jesse Stuart Bridge. While traveling across the bridge, the Operator intentionally struck Tpr. Stephens's cruiser causing minor/moderate damage. After the impact, the suspect vehicle slid into a concrete bridge abutment then caught fire. The driver (JUVENILE) attempted to flee on foot, but was apprehended without further incident. The passenger was also apprehended.

The Driver was lodged in the Boyd County Juvenile Detention Faciltiy on the Authority of Greenup District Judge Robert Conley. The Passenger was lodged in the Greenup County Detention Facility.
