Kentucky State Police Uses Stingers in a Shelby County Pursuit

(Post 12 Frankfort) On Friday, September 9, 2005 at 3:50 AM, the Shelby County dispatch received a 911 call of a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-64. Shelby County Sheriff Deputy, Frank Jeffcoat initiated the pursuit. Tpr. Hunter Martin was able to deploy stingers and successfully deflated three of the four suspect's tires. Stingers are a tire deflation device used to stop fleeing or evading vehicles. The pursuit reached speeds of 80 mph. The driver was arrested after police forced her vehicle off the roadway.
The operator Veronica J. Greenwell, age 22 of Bardstown, KY, was arrested without further incident. She was lodged in the Shelby County Jail charged with Wanton Endangerment 1st, Flee and Evading 1st and Driving under the Influence 1st. Investigation on going by Kentucky State Police.
