Death Investigation in Laurel County, KY

(LONDON, KY) - On Friday, August 26, 2005 at approximately 2:00 a.m. Laurel County Sheriffs Deputies responded to a fight complaint on Burnett Road off KY 229 in Laurel County. Upon their arrival they discovered Timothy P. Haley, age 39 of Somerset Road, dead from injuries he had received in an altercation with Gary L. Spencer aslo from Somerset Road.

The Kentucky State Police was notified and, detective Don Trosper responded to the scene to investigate. Preliminary investigation revealed that Mr. Haley had approached Mr. Spencer with a claw hammer and, Mr. Spencer struck Haley with a crutch.

An autopsy is scheduled for this morning (08-26-05) and, hopefully more details will be made available.

Kentucky State Police Detective Don Trosper is the lead investigator and, was assisted at the scene by Laurel County Sheriffs Department, Laurel Ambulance Service and, Laurel County Coroner's Office.
