Home Invasion Arrest in Somerset, KY

Date of News Release: 08/02/2005

Somerset, KY - The Pulaski County Major Crimes Task force has charged a Somerset woman for falsely reporting a home invasion.

On June 23, 2005 the Major Crimes Task Force was called to investigate a home invasion at the residence of Kimberly and Anthony Meece at 1218 Gastineau Rd Somerset, KY. In that report, the victim stated an unknown white male entered her residence, assaulted her, and stole cash and a weapon from her home.

The investigation by the Task Force uncovered evidence that indicated the victim, Kimberly Meece, was not truthful in her original report. On August 1, 2005, Meece was re-interviewed by detectives and admitted that she had falsely reported the home invasion. Meece stated that she had, in fact, not been robbed or assaulted in her home. Meece told officers that she lied in an attempt to mislead her husband about money that she had spent without his knowledge.

During the investigation, Meece lead investigators to the location of the missing handgun which was recovered near the Meece's home.

Kimberly Ann Meece, 28, 1218 Gastineau Rd Somerset, KY was charged with Falsely Reporting and Incident - A Class A Misdemeanor. She will appear in Pulaski District Court on August 18, 2005 to answer to that charge.

The investigation is continuing by the Major Crimes Task Force with KSP Detective Doug Boyd as the lead investigator.
