Kentucky State Police Use K-9 To Conduct A Drug Sweep Of Monticello Independent School System

On Friday, February 18, 2005 at approximately 12:00 p.m. Kentucky State Police K-9 handlers (Lafe Owens, Ricky Underwood, and, Butch Kanter) along with Trooper Parish Baker in cooperation with the Monticello Independent School Administration, conducted a drug sweep of the facility which included the interior as well as the exterior of the school.

At approximately 12:45 PM K-9's alerted on a vehicle located on the grounds. After a search of the vehicle a small amount of marijuana and, drug paraphernalia was located inside the vehicle. Upon further investigation by Trooper Baker, Travis J. Bell age 18 was arrested and, charged with possession of marijuana and, possession of drug paraphernalia. Travis Bell was lodged in the Wayne County jail with the investigation continuing by Trooper Parish Baker.
