Bad Check Scam

(LONDON, KY) - The Kentucky State Police and, First National Bank in London would like to make area businesses and, citizens aware of bad checks that are being passed. As of 02-01-2005 three checks have been received at First National Bank that have been passed. The three checks each bear the name of Marathon Oil Company, 206 Industrial Park Drive, London, KY, 40741.

Each check has been made to a James D. Russell, P.O. Box 243, Bethany, KY, 41313 in the amount of $288.45 also each check number has been 2071.

The three checks were passed in Lexington, KY, Campton, KY and, Salt Lick, KY. The Kentucky State Police just wanted local businesses and, area residents in Laurel and, surrounding counties to be aware of this scam.
