Female Arrested at K.S.P. Post on Warrant & Drug Charges in Laurel County

(LONDON, KY) - On Saturday, January 29, 2005 a female and, her infant child was dropped off at the Kentucky State Police Post. The female told the dispatcher she needed a ride to Jackson County. Trooper Mike Bowling went speak with the female and, was inquiring how she got to Post and, why she was wanting to go to Jackson County.
While investigating Trooper Bowling discovered the female Melinda Collier (38) had an outstanding warrant for her arrest in Laurel County. Ms. Collier was detained and, further investigation revealed that Ms. Collier had various narcotic drugs on her person while she was at Post.
Melinda collier was arrested and, charged with the failure to appear warrant along with public intoxication, possession of controlled substance 1st, possession of controlled substance 3rd and, possession of drug paraphernalia.
The child was placed in the custody of the grandparents when they arrived at Post while the mother was placed in the Laurel County Detention Center.
The investigation is continuing by Trooper Mike Bowling.
