Drug Arrests Made in Harlan County, KY

(Harlan, KY) - On 1-31-2005 a report of a meth lab was investigated by Trooper Keith Saylor, Trooper Walt Szczepan, and Trooper Marcus Williams, and Officer Ken Hightower of Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement, at the residence of a Jerry Long at Jones Creek area of Verda.

The officers were allowed to enter the residence and were given verbal consent to search the residence. During the search, four subjects were located in the residence, two of which were attempting to hide, along with several guns, one of which was stolen, and a small vial of what appeard to be crack cocaine. Det Miller was called to asssist on the drug investigation.

The subjects were arrested and Lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center.

Upon a search of the Subjects, the fourth individual, a Richard D Williams of Brooklyn New York, was found to have 10 Individually wrapped plasic bags of Crack Cocaine located in his possession attempting to take them into the jail with him. Mr Williams was charged again with Possession of a Controlled substance 1st Degree and Promoting Contraband 1st Degree.

At this time the case is under investigation by Tpr Marcus Williams and Det Kevin Miller. Other arrests in this case are pending.
