Two Plead Guilty to the Murder of Rickey Shirley Jr.

Date of News Release: 11/2/2004

(Bowling Green, KY) - After a 22-month investigation by the Kentucky State Police, the murder of Rickey Shirley Jr. has been closed in Hart Circuit Court.

Shirley was shot on 01-04-03 in Horse Cave, KY, and later died at the University of Louisville Hospital.

On October 29th, 2004 Jon Coats & his son Cornelius Maxey both plead guilty to the victim's death. Mr. Coats plead to 18 years in the penitentiary for manslaughter 1st degree. Mr. Maxey plead to 5 years in the penitentiary for facilitation to murder.
