Anhydrous Ammonia Theft Arrests in Todd County

Allensville, KY (Todd County) - On August 12, 2004 at approximately 0250 hours, officers observed a vehicle drop off a subject on US 79 in front of the Allensville Crop Service and drive away. The subject, who was later identified as Whimpy H. Hogan age 35 of Cave City, KY, was observed attaching a hose to one of the anhydrous tanks and filling a tank that he had brought with him. When officers approached Hogan, he fled into a nearby field on foot. He was apprehended a short time later. Officers located suspected methamphetamine on Hogan. At approximately 0405 hours, August 12, 2004, Brandon J. Byrd age 20 of Cave City, KY was arrested when he came to the crop service to pick up Hogan. Both men were lodged in the Christian County Jail. Hogan was charged with tampering with anhydrous ammonia, possession of anhydrous ammonia not in proper container, theft of anhydrous ammonia, possession of controlled substance 1st degree 2nd offense-meth, possession of drug paraphernalia 2nd offense, and fleeing/evading police 2nd degree-on foot. Byrd was charged with tampering with anhydrous ammonia, possession of anhydrous ammonia not in proper container, theft of anhydrous ammonia, and operating on a suspended operator's license.
