Shooting Investigation in Webster County

Slaughters, KY (Webster County) - The Kentucky State Police Post 2 is currently investigating a shooting incident that involved the Webster County Sheriff's Department. On July 28, 2004 at approximately 0118 hours, Deputy Kevin Crockett observed a suspect fleeing from the Crop Production Service in Slaughters. The suspect, Marvin O. Gibson Jr. age 33 of Providence, KY, fled the scene in a 1989 Suzuki Sidekick. A vehicle pursuit then ensued. Gibson traveled on KY 138 driving on the wrong side of the road for most of the pursuit. Deputy Crockett attempted to disable the vehicle by shooting one of the tires. The shot traveled through the vehicle and struck Gibson in the back and leg. Gibson was transported to the Henderson Methodist Hospital. At this time, his injuries do not appear to be life threatening. Investigators found suspected methamphetamine and components of a meth lab in Gibson's vehicle. The Kentucky State Police is continuing the investigation.
