Date of News Release: 7/3/2004

Dixon, KY (Webster County) - On July 3, 2004 at approximately 0415 hours, the Kentucky State Police responded to a 911 call on Bud Asher Mooney Road in Dixon. The caller had reported that a male suspect was outside the residence making threats towards the people inside. Upon arriving, Tpr. William Braden encountered the suspect outside.

Tpr. Braden identified himself and ordered the suspect to show his hands. The suspect then turned towards Tpr. Braden and approached him with a large machete-type knife. Tpr. Braden ordered the suspect to drop the knife. The suspect failed to comply and continued towards Tpr. Braden in a threatening manner. Tpr. Braden fired at the suspect. The suspect was struck and died from his wounds.

The suspect has been identified as Jeffery D. McKinley age 41 of Dixon, KY.

Tpr. Braden has been placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of the internal investigation.
