Theft Arrest in Clay, KY

Clay, KY (Webster County) - On June 28, 2004 the Kentucky State Police responded to a report of a firearm theft. The theft is believed to have occurred between 2200 hours on Saturday, June 26, 2004 and 0300 hours on Sunday, June 27, 2004. The firearm had been issued to an officer with the Sturgis Police Department and had been stolen from the officer's private vehicle while off duty. The investigation led Tpr. William Braden and Webster County Sheriff's Deputy Kevin Crockett to a residence on KY 132 in Clay, KY. There the officers found Christopher Lovan age 20 of Clay, KY in possession of the stolen firearm. The serial number on the firearm had been defaced. Lovan was arrested without incident and charged with theft by unlawful taking-firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and defacing a firearm. He was lodged in the Webster County Detention Center.
