Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree (Methamphetamine)- Firearm Enhanced

(Hickory, KY) - On October 3, 2004, at approximately 4:30 PM, Trooper Brad Ramsey initiated a traffic stop when he observed a vehicle speeding on US 60 just inside the city limits of Ledbetter. Trooper Ramsey checked the driver, Timothy L. Swenney, for local warrants through McCracken County, and confirmed that Mr. Swenney did in fact have an outstanding warrant.
At this time, Trooper Ramsey placed Mr. Swenney under arrest on a Failure To Appear warrant. A search incident to arrest of his person revealed Mr. Swenney had concealed drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine in his pant leg. A search incident to arrest of his vehicle revealed that Mr. Swenney had a concealed deadly weapon, additional drug paraphernalia, and additional methamphetamine.
Due to an active Kentucky Domestic Violence Order, Mr. Swenney is prohibited from possessing a firearm under the Brady Act.
Mr. Swenney was charged with trafficking in controlled substance 1st degree (methamphetamine)- firearm enhanced, possession of drug paraphernalia 2nd offense, violation of Kentucky Domestic Violence Order, carrying concealed deadly weapon, speeding, no insurance, no registration plates, and no registration receipt. He was lodged in the Livingston County Jail.
