Another Inmate has Escaped from the Hickman County Detention Center

Date of News Release: 8/30/2004

(CLINTON, KY.) At 8:30 A.M. on 8-30-04, investigators with the Kentucky State Police were contacted by officials with the Hickman County Jail concerning another escapee from their facility. It was discovered at the 7:20 A.M. head count that Mark Allen Bates was missing. Bates, of Bardwell, KY, is described as a white male, 6'4" 220 LBS., with brown hair and green eyes. Bates is a Class-D felon serving a Department of Corrections assault conviction.

Thomas C. Lane was discovered missing from the jail at 11:29 P.M. on August 29, 2004. At this time it is unknown if Lane and Bates left together. Apparently, both inmates left through the back door of the jail.

Kentucky State Police encourage anyone with information on the whereabouts of Bates and Lane to call 1-800-222-5555 (in the state of Kentucky only, does not work out of state). The investigation is continuing by Detective George Bell.
