Death investigation in Lyon County

(Hickory, Kentucky) - At approximately 14:20 hours The Kentucky State Police was contacted by the Tennessee Valley Authority regarding an abandoned boat at the Rock Quarry in Lyon County. At that time, the Lyon County Rescue Squad, TVA, and The Kentucky State Police initiated a search in the area for the ownde of the boat. Approximately two housr later, the body of Mitchell Oswalt, age 45 of Benton, KY, was located by members of the serach team. The investigation is still ongoing and an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday May 26, 2004 at the Madisonville Lab. Kentucky State police Detective Janet Gabbard was assisted by Detective Michelle Kent, Trooper Bobby Murray, Trooper Chris Smith, TVA, Fish and Wildlife, Lyon County Rescue Squad, and Lyon County EMS.
