Trafficking in Marijuana Over 8OZ
(Lyon County, KY) - On 4-8-04 Troopers Tim Reed and Mike Turnbow, Post Ones drug interdiction team was patroling I-24 at the 50 Mile Marker in Lyon County when a vehicle came past Trooper Reed with its hazard lights on.
The vehicle pulled to the shoulder and Trooper Reed pulled in behind it to see if he could assist the three people inside. Trooper Reed made contact with the driver, Everett Tabor. Tabor told the trooper he ran out of gas. Before Trooper Reed placed Tabor in his cruiser, he patted him down to make sure there was nothing in his pockets. During that routine safety search, Trooper Reed found what appeared to be methamphetamine. After field testing the drug, the troopers placed Tabor under arrest. Troopers, along with K-9 Aron, searched the car and found a bag in the backseat containing suspected marijuana, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, money, and other unkown pills. Troopers then placed passengers Nick Haynes and Brandy Bailey under arrest. All three have been charged with Trafficking in Marijuana Over 8 OZ, Trafficking in a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Controlled Substance not in Proper Container. Seized were 2 1/4 pounds of marijuana worth $4,500, 6 OZ of Methamphetamine worth $9,000, 5 unknown pills, $789.00 in cash and a 1995 Chevrolet Caprice. The three were lodged in the Caldwell County Jail. The investigation is continuing by Trooper Reed.
