Felony arrest Union County - recovering of $2.5 dollars in equipment

(UNION COUNTY, KY) On 5-9-04, the Mt. Vernon Illinois Police Department took a report of a stolen tractor and trailer from a Travel America Truck Stop in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

At approximately 11:45 PM the tractor and trailer came through a State Police DUI road check at intersection of K109 and K56 west. The vehicle continued through without stopping. The driver of the vehicle jumped from the cab of the moving vehicle and fled into a wooded area. The truck coasted to a stop in a nearby field. A Kentucky State Police K-9 unit was utilized to locate the suspect. The value of the cargo and vehicle recovered by the Kentucky State Police was estimated at 2.5 million dollars.
