KSP Seizure of Alcohol from VFW, One Person Arrested

(Ashland, KY) -Kentucky State Police in Ashland is investigating the seizure of a large amount of alcohol from the VFW located on Route 2 in Greenup, Ky after responding to a fight call earlier in the evening. Around 11 pm, troopers responded to the VFW reference to a fight in progress. Upon arrival, troopers arrested Vernon P. Jarrell for alcohol intoxication. Mr. Jarrell was placed in the back of Trooper Bryan Powell's cruiser and while Powell was assisting other officers, the suspect kicked out the back glass of the cruiser and escaped only to be caught a short time later. A large amount of alcohol could be observed inside the VFW building from the parking lot area and over 120 cases of beer and over 100 bottles of liquor was seized from the building. At this time no one has been charged with the Illegal alcohol possession but the case remains under investigation by Trooper John Hay.
