Fire Investigation in South Shore, KY

Date of News Release: 9/13/2004

(Ashland, KY) - Kentucky State Police Detectives in Ashland are investigating an early morning fire that resulted in the death of a South Shore resident. South Shore Fire Department responded to 108 2nd Street South Shore early this moning after a fire was discovered by the neighbors. The resident is owned by Stella Cooper and her husband Paul Gordon Cooper Sr age 52. Stella and her 30 year old daughter Angel Cooper escaped the fire but authorities belive Paul Cooper was unble to escape the blaze. Firefighters discovered a body inside the residence and summonsed KSP authorities. The body has been sent to Kentucky State Police Crime Lab for an autopsy which is scheduled next date. The cause of the fire appears to be accidental and foul play is not suspected.
