Manslaughter Investigation in McCreary County, KY

Date of News Release: 10/25/2004

(LONDON, KY) - On Sunday October 24, 2004 at approximately 8:30 a.m. Kentucky State Police responded to the report of a shooting on Wiborg Hollow Road, approximately 4 miles north of Whitley City in McCreary County. According to the investigation James Norman (Fred) Ridner Perry age 29 and his girlfriend Stacey Lyons age 27 of Whitley City had an argument at her residence when she produced a handgun shooting him once in the chest.

James Ridner was airlifted from the scene to the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset where Pulaski County Coroner Richard New pronounced him dead upon arrival. Stacey Lyons was arrested and lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center in Williamsburg charged with Manslaughter 1st and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

Kentucky State Police Detective Billy Correll is conducting the investigation and was assisted at the scene by Trooper Chris Ison, Trooper Anthony Phillips, McCreary County Deputy Steve Hensley, McCreary County EMS and McCreary County Coroner Ted Coffey.

The investigation is continuing.
