Murder Investigation in Clay County

Date of News Release: 10/11/2004

(LONDON, KY) - On Sunday, October 10, 2004 at approximately 5:20 p.m. Troopers from the Kentucky State Police in London responded to the report of shots fired on Roots Branch Road approximately 6 miles west of Manchester in Clay County. Upon arrival in the area they discovered the body of Steve Collins age 67 of Manchester lying outside a residence with multiple gunshot wounds. Clay County Coroner Jim Trosper pronounced Steve Collins dead at the scene.

The body of Steve Collins was sent to the State Medical Examiners Office in Frankfort for an Autopsy.

Kentucky State Police Detective John Yates is conducting the investigation and was assisted at the scene by Detective Don Trosper, Trooper's Matthew Reid, Michelle Lunsford, Jason O'Bannon, Lafe Owens, Sergeant Chris Thompson, Clay County EMS and the Clay County Coroners Office.

The investigation is continuing.
