Working Methamphetamine Lab Discovered in Laurel County

(LONDON, KY) - On Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at approximately 4:25 p.m. Kentucky State Police in London responded to the report of a possible Methamphetamine Lab in a barn off O'Hare Road, 6 miles North of London in Laurel County. As officers arrived at the location they observed a male and female inside the barn in the process of cooking methamphetamine.
Robert Howard Helton age 34 and Bobbie Jo Barnes age 34 of East Bernstadt were arrested without incident and lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center in London. Both were charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Anhydrous with the intent to manufacture Methamphetamine.
Detective John Root is conducting the investigation and was assisted at the scene by Trooper Mark Allen and Trooper Coby Smith. The scene was then turned over to Brian Reams and the Region 11 Hazardous Material Task Force for clean up.
