Bank Robbery in Monticello

(MONTICELLO, KY) - On Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at approximately 12:57 p.m. a male armed with a handgun and a device which he claimed to be a bomb entered the BB&T Bank on KY 90 in Monticello demanding money. The subject was given an undetermined amount of cash and fled the bank leaving the scene in a brown or gold Chevrolet 4-door passenger car in an unknown direction.

The subject is described as a White/Male between the ages of 50 and 60, approximately 6'0" tall, thin build and gray hair. He may be in the company of a white female with dark hair and a male with dark complexion. Kentucky State Police Hazardous Devices unit responded to the scene examining the suspected bomb and determined that it was not an explosive device.

There were no injuries reported.

Kentucky State Police Detective Todd Dalton is conducting the investigation and was assisted at the scene by Troopers from the Kentucky State Police in London, Monticello Police Department, Wayne County Sheriff Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
