Fugitive from Justice Arrested in McCreary County

(Whitley City, KY) - On Wednesday, December 10, 2003 Officer Gus Skinner of the U.S. Forest Service contacted Kentucky State Police Detective Billy Correll with information that Theodore Sabastian Thomas a fugitive from the state of Florida was living at a residence on Bear Pine Drive in Pine Knot, McCreary County.

Lake Cumberland Area Drug Task Force Agent Robbie Clark and Detective Correll went to the residence where Theodore Sabastian Thomas was located. Upon confirming Mr. Thomas' identity he was arrested for being a fugitive from the state of Florida where he was sought on the charges of Armed Burglary of a Dwelling and various Theft and Fraud related offenses. The arrest lead to a search warrant being obtained for the residence where officers discovered counterfeit currency, social security cards, birth certificates along with numerous other fraudulent documents. Further investigation determined that the documents were being produced at the residence.

Theodore Sabastian Thomas (AKA: Theodore Heaberlin) age 23 and Carla Heaberlin age 19 of Pine Knot were both arrested and lodged in the McCreary County Jail charged with Forgery 1st Degree and Possession of a Forgery Device.

Kentucky State Police Detective Billy Correll is continuing the investigation. Assisting in the investigation and arrest were Officers from the Kentucky State Police, U.S. Forest Service, KY Fish and Wildlife, Lake Cumberland Area Drug Task Force and the McCreary County Sheriff's Department.

An infant child at the residence was taken into protective custody by the Department of Community Based Services in McCreary County.
