KSP Post 15 Commander

Kentucky State Police Post 15 located in Columbia is under the command of Captain Gregory D. Baird. Captain Baird received his KSP commission in February of 1989 and was appointed Post 15 commander in November of 2008.

Kentucky State Police Post 15 serves the following Kentucky Counties:

 

Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, Marion, Metcalfe, Monroe, Russell, Taylor and Washington

The Kentucky State Police are rolling out a classic 60s muscle car updated for the 21st Century for their Trooper Island fund-raising raffle this year: the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro (1LT Coupe). Passing on the Right/Public Service Announcement

(Columbia, Ky.) -- Post 15 has received an increase in complaints of vehicles passing on the right and has seen an increase in the number of collisions resulting from these improper passes. The Kentucky state law reads that "...the operator of a vehicle may overtake and pass upon the right of another vehicle only under the following conditions: when the vehicle overtaken is making or about to make a left turn; upon a roadway with an unobstructed pavement of sufficient width for 2 or more lines of vehicles moving lawfully in the direction being traveled by the overtaking vehicle. The operator of a vehicle may overtake and pass another vehicle upon the right only under conditions permitting such movements in safety. Such movement shall not be made by driving off the roadway unless passing vehicle comes to a complete stop and such movement may be made safely." The Kentucky State Police are asking that all drivers make a more concerted effort to adhere not only to this law but to the proper practices of safe driving; slowing at intersections, coming to a complete stop, signaling early and every time a direction change is made, keeping an appropriate and safe following distance, buckling up and traveling at safe speeds.
