KSP Hosts Seventh Annual 'Drive To Stay Alive' Teen Driving Academy
Date of News Release: 09/10/09

(Frankfort, Ky.) -- 'Drive To Stay Alive' (D2SA) is a four-day defensive driving academy for teens that combine classroom studies and road course tests in an effort to reduce teen crash fatalities in Kentucky. After completion of the D2SA Program, teens are teamed with experienced state troopers to spread the safe driving message to the student body in participating schools. The effectiveness of the program is based on the concept that a message conveyed by a fellow student carries more weight with other students and is therefore more memorable. Last year on Kentucky roadways, there were 23,910 teen collisions resulting in 7,412 injuries and 106 fatalities.
