Kentucky State Police arrest three for Marijuana Cultivation

(Reidland, Ky.) - Kentucky State Police Drug Enforcement/Special Investigations West received information about some marijuana plants that were being cultivated near the end of Downs Road in the Reidland area of McCracken County. Three marijuana plots were visually observed through the use of aerial surveillance from units assigned to the Governor's Marijuana Strike Force. On Sunday, August 24, 2014, Kentucky State Police Post 1 Mayfield Lt. Brent White observed three subjects leaving the marijuana plots during ground surveillance of the location and a traffic stop was conducted near the Southern Pride Truck Stop in Reidland. Three subjects and 34 harvested marijuana plants were found to be inside the vehicle.
Arrested at the scene were:
- Jessica S. Jones, 32, Owensboro, KY
- Chad D.Drake, 33, Owensboro, KY
- Robert L. Martin, 28, Owensboro, KY
Lt. White, Det. Richie Wright, and Tpr. Alison Ramsey seized an additional 53 marijuana plants from the remaining plots for a total of 90 marijuana plants as a result of the investigation. The plants have an approximate street value of $180,000.00.
All three subjects were charged with Complicity to Cultivate Marijuana over 5 Plants, a Class D Felony punishable from 1-5 years in prison. The subjects were lodged in the McCracken County Regional Detention Center. The investigation is continuing by the Kentucky State Police at this time and additional charges are likely. The McCracken County Sheriff's Office assisted the Kentucky State Police with the investigation.
