Trafficking Controlled Substance Investigation in Pulaski County

(Pulaski County , Ky.) -- Detectives from KSP DE/SI West received information from the Franklin Police Department that Shannon Helton was mailing stolen scheduled II narcotics from Captiva, Florida, where he had allegedly burglarized a business. On the morning of April 11, 2012, Detectives from DE/SI West along with DE/SI East, Lake Cumberland Area Drug Task Force and the Columbia HIDTA Drug Task Force proceeded to Somerset, Kentucky to further the investigation. As a result detectives seized 565 dose units of schedule II narcotics (hydromorphone and oxycontin) with a street value of $11,300.00. This investigation also solved a burglary in Sanibel Island, Florida where charges are pending at this time on Helton. Shannon Helton of Somerset, Kentucky was charged with Trafficking in Controlled Substance, 1st Degree and lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
