Washington County Deputies Arrested

(Washington County, Ky.) -- On November 12, 2009 units from Kentucky State Police West Drug Enforcement, Kentucky State Police Drug Task Force, Kentucky State Police Post 15 - Columbia, Kentucky State Police Special Response Team, and Springfield Police Department conducted a covert drug trafficking operation involving two Washington County Sheriff's Deputies.

Arrested were Deputy Wayne Bartley, a 6 year veteran, and Deputy Billy Mattingly, a 3 year veteran of the Washington County Sheriff's Department. Both officers are charged with Official Misconduct, Trafficking in Marijuana, Theft by Unlawful Taking Over $300, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Criminal Mischief.

Both were lodged in the Marion County Detention Center.
