KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Recovers Stolen Semi
Date of News Release: 09/14/2016
MOREHEAD, Ky. (September 14, 2016) Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Inspector Benita Blanton stopped a commercial vehicle at the Morehead I-64 westbound weigh station for failing to have a KY weight distance tax (KYU).
While Inspector Blanton was in the process of completing her commercial safety inspection, the operator failed to provide the truck registration for the vehicle being operated. Through further investigation, Inspector Blanton ran an inquiry through The National Crime Information Center (NCIC) of the registration plate currently on the semi, which returned to another vehicle. Inspector Blanton then obtained the vehicle identification number (VIN) from the semi and ran another inquiry through NCIC. Inspector Blanton then determined the vehicle was entered as a stolen 2009 Freightliner from Virginia.
No arrest has been made at this time. The investigation is still ongoing by KSP-CVE Officer Jerrod Foley U/4402, who is working with Virginia authorities.
