50 Mile Pursuit Ends in Wreck in Bullitt County

(Munfordville, KY) - On Wednesday May 25, 2016 around 10:30 in the morning Kentucky State Police Post 3 Bowling Green received complaints of a black Honda passenger car driving recklessly on Interstate 65.

19 year-old Tony Trieu of Bowling Green was operating a 2014 Black Honda passenger car. Officers observed the vehicle traveling north on Interstate 65 around Munfordville driving carelessly. When officers attempted to stop Trieu, he accelerated his vehicle to a high rate of speed, driving in a recklessly through the construction work zone.

The pursuit continued north where Kentucky State Police Post 4 Troopers assisted in using tire deflation devices near Sonora. Trieu continued driving with three of his tires being successfully deflated. Trieu drove his vehicle more than 30 miles before running off the roadway and striking a guardrail near Shepherdsville. At this point Trieu was taken into custody.

Trieu was lodged in the Hart County Jail and charged with speeding 26mph over the limit in a work zone, Failure to signal, Failure to wear seat belt, Reckless Driving, Fleeing or Evading Police, Operating a Motor Vehicle under the influence Aggravated, Wanton Endangerment, Criminal Mischief, and Resisting Arrest.

Senior Officer Nick Pruitt is the investigating officer and was assisted by Troopers from Kentucky State Police Post Bowling Green and Elizabethtown.
