Three People From Elizabethtown Arrested on Drug Charges

(Horse Cave, KY) - Three people from Elizabethtown were arrested on Friday around 12:56pm after a traffic stop leads to several different drugs found in the vehicle.

38-year-old Billy Groves was operating a Gray Nissan Altima on Interstate 65 traveling south at a high rate of speed and driving recklessly, when he was stopped by Senior Officer Nick Pruitt with the Kentucky State Police Commercial Enforcement Division. During the stop it was found that Groves was driving on a suspended license. A search of the vehicle found 31-year-old James Groves and a juvenile both from Elizabethtown in the vehicle. During the search of the vehicle several different drugs were located. Billy Groves, James Groves and the juvenile were taken into custody.

Billy Groves was charged with Reckless Driving, Operating on a Suspended Operators License, and Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. James Groves and the juvenile were charged with Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Billy and James Groves were both lodged in the Hart County Jail. The juvenile was released to the custody of her parents.
