KSP/CVE Investigates Collision that Shuts Down I75 in Madison County

(Morehead, KY) -- The Kentucky State Police Division of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement is investigating a collision that shut down I75 northbound in Madison County. A driver of a tractor trailer traveling north stated that he hit slush in the roadway, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. When he lost control, he stated that he struck a guard rail. This caused the truck to jackknife and overturn. The driver was not injured. The driver of the tractor trailer has been identified as Wayne D. Footz of Trotwood, Ohio. The trucking company he drives for is JB Hunt Transport, Inc. out of Lowell, Arkansas. The driver was on his way from Somerset, Kentucky to Monroe, Ohio, and he was hauling bagged charcoal. I75 was shut down for several hours, while Officer Stallsworth with CVE investigates the collision. He was assisted by Troopers with KSP, Officers with CVE, Richmond Police Department, Madison County Sheriff’s Office and Richmond and Berea Fire Department. EMA was on scene due to a small diesel fuel leak.
