Injury Accident on KY 90

(Summer Shade, KY) - The Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Region 2 investigated a 5 vehicle collision that occurred today (12/11/15) at 12:27 p.m. CDT on KY90, 1 mile east of Summer Shade. 32 year-old George Foos of Fairfield, NE was operating a 1999 Kenworth traveling westbound on KY 90 when he approached an area where the Kentucky Transportation Department was conducting road repairs. Foos was unable to stop his vehicle where he struck the rear of another commercial motor vehicle stopped in traffic causing a chain reaction. Foos struck the rear of a 2005 Peterbuilt being operated by 47 year-old Derek Masiongale of Pall Mall, TN. Masiongale's vehicle then struck the rear of a 2011 Toyota being operated by 33 year-old Jacob Jones of Scottsville, KY. Jones's vehicle then struck the rear of a 2005 Hyundai being operated by 46 year-old Sherry Auge of Cave City, KY. Auge's vehicle then struck the rear of a 2012 Chevrolet being operated by 33 year-old Amy Gammel of Tompkinsville, KY.
Auge was wearing her seatbelt and was transported to T J Samson Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Foos, Masiongale, Jones and Gammel were wearing their seatbelts and were not injured.
Senior Officer Randy Honeycutt is investigating and was assisted at the scene by Sr Ofc. Casey Tooley, Metcalfe County Sheriff's Department, Barren/Metcalfe Co EMS, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and Metcalfe Co Emergency Management.
