Commercial Vehicle Crash in Rockcastle County

(Mount Vernon, KY) - On Tuesday July 15th 2014 around 4:30 A.M. officer Duffy Sutton with Kentucky State Police Vehicle Enforcement responded to a single vehicle injury accident involving a tractor trailer located on I-75 Northbound near the 62 mile marker in Rockcastle Co. Kentucky.

Upon arrival and through investigation officer Sutton found that 46 year old James A. Key of Tryon North Carolina was operating a 2005 International tractor trailer loaded with hazardous material. (UN 1593 Methylene Chloride). Investigation found that Tryon left the roadway crashing his tractor trailer just off the right side shoulder of the interstate.

Key was transported to a nearby hospital with non life threatening injuries and hazmat crews worked for several hours to clean the debris.

Drugs and alcohol are not suspected factors in the collision and seat belt usage is not known at this time.
