Operation Air Brake 2014

Date of News Release: 09/03/2014

(Georgetown, Ky.) - The Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division will be participating in the nation wide safety campaign, Operation Air Brake-Brake Safety Week beginning on September 7th through September 13th 2014.

Brake Safety Week is part of an ongoing effort by CVSA (Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance) that is dedicated to improving inspection, compliance, maintenance and performance of commercial vehicle brakes throughout North America.

The objective of this campaign is to reduce the number of highway crashes caused by faulty braking systems on commercial vehicles through enforcement, education, and outreach to commercial vehicle operators and industry.

KSP-Vehicle Enforcement Officers and weigh station Inspectors will be increasing enforcement by working extended hours on Kentucky's Highways and weigh stations. In addition to conducting full safety inspections, officers will also be increasing patrols at various by-pass routes in an attempt to check and ensure commercial vehicles are not by-passing the weigh stations.
