IFTA / High Crash Corridor Detail I-75 Madison County

(Richmond, KY) -- On Wednesday, March 6, 2013, the officers from the CVE division of the Kentucky State Police conducted a 24 hour International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) detail along the "High Crash Corridor" of I-75 in Madison County. The detail was conducted to ensure that the commercial vehicles on Kentucky's roadways are complying with federal and state regulations governing the fuel tax being assesed to help pay for Kentucky's highways.
During the course of the 24 hour detail there were seventy-one inspections conducted. As a result of these inspections, CVE officers wrote sixty citations, made five arrests, including one DUI arrest and opened one drug case. There were also six vehicles and drivers taken out of service due to safety violations. There will be continued enforcement in the coming months to monitor the compliance of CMV companies and their vehicles.
