Commercial Vehicle Enforcement makes felony arrest in Henderson County

(Robards, Ky) -- At approximately 7:50 A.M. officers with the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement division of the Kentucky State Police were dispatched to the Robards community in reference to a suspicious person in the area of Heavenly Road.
Preliminary investigation shows that Mr. Nelson T. Velasquez, age 21 of Robards, Kentucky had stolen a 1997 Blue Jeep from a residence on Heavenly Road and later crashed the Jeep into a tree. Mr. Velasquez then fled the scene of the collision on foot and began entering parked vehicles at three separate locations before being located and arrested by Officer B. Mosley and Officer J. Blankenship. At the time of his arrest, Mr. Velasquez was in possession of drug paraphernalia. Mr. Velasquez was charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking of an Automobile, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence 1st Offense, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Criminal Trespassing 3rd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and No Operators License. Mr. Velasquez lodged in the Henderson County Detention Center. The investigation continues by Officer Mosley.
